1800HaightStreet: Georhythms

The fourth release from London based Techno imprint Pacific Command sees Canadian trio 1800HaightStreet deliver a collection of crunchy, dance floor orientated tracks.

Clocking in at an epic eleven minutes, ‘Georhythms’ takes up the whole of the A side. Wistful pad-work provides a sense of space and grandeur whilst rhythmic themes develop underneath; off-beat hi-hats are dropped in and out several times, regulating the energy of the tune, and it is not until two-thirds of the way through that breaky kick drum pattern subsides into a 4 / 4 beat.

Up next ‘Apprentice’ is a simpler affair, combining abstract atmospheres with tough kicks and percussive scrapes. In defiance of traditional song-writing wisdom the track shifts into top gear towards the end when a thick ride cymbal finally pulls its constituent parts together.

‘Interactions’ concludes the B-side in ominous fashion; haunting drones and a pounding kick set the tone, evoking scenes of industrial decay in the finest tradition of dystopian Techno.

Georhythms is scheduled for release 19th August 2016 via Pacific Command, order a copy on Juno.
