Seefeel’s landmark 1993 EP ‘Pure, Impure‘ has been reissued in a newly expanded edition, available to pre-order now at Inverted Audio Record Store.
Formed in London in the early ’90s, Seefeel became known for their pioneering fusion of shoegaze textures with electronic experimentation, crafting immersive soundscapes that blurred the lines between rock and techno. ‘Pure, Impure‘ marked a pivotal step in their evolution offering a more stripped-down and hypnotic approach compared to their debut ‘Quique‘. Its loop-driven structures, subtle melodic shifts and interplay of guitar and machine rhythms pointed towards dub, ambient techno and post-rock.
This new edition expands ‘Pure, Impure’ into an 11-track set that brings together three formative Seefeel EPs – ‘More Like Space‘, ‘Plainsong‘ and ‘Time to Find Me‘. Central to the release are two rare AFX remixes of “Time to Find Me,” highlighting the close creative connection between Seefeel and Richard D. James at a crucial moment in UK experimental music. Also included is a previously unreleased demo of “Moodswing,” offering a glimpse into the band’s process during this fertile period.
Remastered by Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road Studios and accompanied by reimagined artwork, the collection gives new depth and clarity to some of Seefeel’s most vital early material.
‘Pure, Impure (Expanded Edition)’ is scheduled for release on 17 October. Pre-order vinyl from Inverted Audio Record Store.
