Florida-based producer Severed+Said is set to open 2026 with ‘SEER’, his follow-up to 2024’s ‘End Time Loop’ and his first physical release on fellow Floridian imprint Image Research Records.
Blending ambient textures with experimental noise and stripped-back sci-fi scoring, John Touchton creates work suffused with a subtle dread drawn from his Pentecostal upbringing. His music and ethos remain closely tied to Florida’s underground noise and art scenes, linking him with artists including Wave Temples, Akasha System, and Justin Depth.
‘SEER’ is steeped in textured, absorbing soundscapes that drift from kosmische ragas to dub-splashed, low-end Everglade dungeon synth and propulsive, humid techno. The record extends Severed+Said’s earlier work while charting new terrain inspired by Image Research’s electronica-leaning output. Lead single and album closer “Preternatural Forms” is a spectral electro workout built for the DIY goth floor. The tension between uneasy ambient worlds and beat-driven tracks makes for a compelling evolution of the project as it moves confidently into its second decade.
