The latest episode of Newtype Rhythms features an ambient excursion from London-based talent ELLES, an artist that uniquely exhibits emotive expressions via releases for the burgeoning Naive label run by Violet.
Between her two EPs, ELLES finds ways to delineate connections between ambient, dubstep, UK garage and more by delving into elements that captures the heart and mind in an unflinching fashion. What really captures the essence of ELLES in terms of their expansive breadth of musical ideas is their first release on sub-label Naivety, entitled ‘emo_ecstasy_everything‘. Be it the cold-wave crispness, or the mercurial vocals, the imprint of someone firmly planted in their creative space was evident and exposed for us all to here.
That impact is what brought upon this guest mix on Newtype Rhythms – an hour-plus trip into a moment that’s not scurried away from the dance floor, but rather left timeless in abeyance in the mind and spirit. Perhaps during times like these, that’s exactly what one needs to keep their spirits buoyed and bountiful.
