Following on from Illum Sphere and Erol Alkan recent mixes, the always on point Fabriclive mix series is set to launch a new episode of its sonic adventures with Jimmy Edgar at the controls. Fabriclive 79 is scheduled for landing on January 19th.
The Detroit born and raised producer first made a name for himself when he signed at the age of 18 on Warp records, gradually moulding his sound into a very personal mix of ’80s-drenched, colourful synth lines and jacking rhythms. Edgar then launched his own outlet Ultramajic last year, putting out his own material as well as music by Danny Daze and Machinedrum under his Aden guise.
With that Fabriclive 79, Edgar essentially gives prominence to his label’s recent additions, showcasing exciting unreleased cuts amongst which a featuring with the sorely-missed godfather of footwork, DJ Rashad. The result is a one-hour long batch of shuffling, club-resonating material crossed with deeper techno incursions like the Terrence Dixon, Patrice Scott opening testifies.
