Ally Tropical is a Glaswegian expat lost in London. Over the past three years he has been running parties in Glasgow under the Tropical guise with guests including the likes of Marcellus Pittman, Tolouse Low Trax, Huerco S, Telephones, Samo DJ and many more.
Ally’s tastes are far reaching, eclectic and bizarrely dance floor orientated. He now finds himself in an editorial position at The Ransom Note, alongside a brief stint of writing for Inverted Audio.
Ahead of his DJ set at Farr Festival on Saturday 16th July at the “Adventures In Success“stage hosted by The Ransom Note, Ally has recorded this podcast fusing an eclectic array of jazz and disco with the heavier undertones of dance music, giving you plenty of space to tune in and zone out.
“Between the shadows amidst the trees is where I envision this set to be heard. Daytime at Farr festival would be a pretty ideal location really, with friends, beer and sunshine, funny that isn’t it? The set itself is a step away from some of the heavier undertones of dance music and is an exploration into my record bag, past and present. A lot of it is music, which has featured at the Tropical parties and beyond, music which makes sense in the context of Ransom Note as a publication too. It all went a little jazzy…”
