Precipitation issues two albums on Tourist Recordings ‘Life Loops’ & ‘Prismatic Fragments’

Tokyo-based producer Zefan Sramek returns as Precipitation for a duo of long-form ambient albums on Tourist Recordings, ‘Life Loops’ and ‘Prismatic Fragments’.

Much of Precipitation’s output of the past few years, including 2024’s ‘Live at Bush Bash II’, explored a dreamlike concoction of ambient acid techno. In addition to a brief foray into dreamy jungle rhythms, Sramek walks a fine line between the ether and the dancefloor, expertly blending the two aesthetics while occasionally diving headfirst into either.

Teaming up with Tourist Recordings, a sub-imprint of Jungle Gym, Precipitation’s two transmissions each explore deep, psychedelic terrain. ‘Life Loops’, released as a limited CD-r, adheres to the classic Precipitation formula: hypnotic, meditative, and pillowy keys that pop like neon bubbles and sound so inviting you could easily get lost in the sounds for hours. Whilst ‘Prismatic Fragments’, issued on cassette, expands his sound by incorporating modular synth patterns that’s more angular than spectral. The 30-minute centrepiece, “Night Trees (Heart Flutter)”, was recorded at a 2024 live set, and is a mind bender and commands your attention.

‘Life Loops’ & ‘Prismatic Fragments’ are out now via Tourist Recordings. Order them both from Bandcamp.
