Paris-based imprint Contrepoint have steadily established itself as a home for producers unafraid to hybridise club dynamics with deeper, more experimental leanings.
With ‘So Deep’, they welcome Agent Kill, an artist whose productions teeter between rave nostalgia and forward-facing sonics, marking another exploratory chapter in the label’s catalogue. Across five cuts, the EP offers a snapshot of where the dancefloor could be heading next, riding a line between early-2000s Euro House and meditative deep house, while trance motifs rise over tensile percussion. Complimented with a remix from 39 Records boss Sanpe, the result is an elegant convergence of sweaty basements and star-lit open air.
Sanpe’s remix, commands the floor like an astral conductor. Kicking off with bubbling synth lines and a pressure-cooked groove, the track submerges listeners into a deep dive. The kicks thump with purpose, wrapped in a fog of spectral pads and submerged FX. As it evolves the track mutates into a paradox of dancefloor ecstasy and subconscious drift, both propulsive and meditative.
‘So Deep‘ EP is scheduled for release 30th May via Contrepoint Records. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
