Following the release of the rather longwinded ‘We Are Looking For Nothing Isn’t That Something?’, Free Shelter are about to drop their next EP. ‘Dancefloor Mindscapes’ is out next week, its name hinting at the psychedelic club cuts contained within.
While the Helsinki label’s series of edit compilations have become a regular feature of their catalog, ‘Dancefloor Mindscapes’ is their first V/A of original productions. There’s a broad range of styles here, ranging from slow-motion chug to refined breakbeat action.
Bristol-based producer, DJ, label head and visual artist AK-One pays homage to the city’s sound system culture through his contribution. The artist keeps it dubby and hypnotic on ‘Youth Promotion’, slathering its minimal number of elements with liberal helpings of reverb and delay.
‘Dancefloor Mindscapes’ is scheduled for release 25 November via Free Shelter. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
