Premiere: Anunaku – Stargate

Today’s premiere is a percussive dalliance into absolute bliss, courtesy of the project known as Anunaku. Appearing some months back on Whities, Anunaku surfaced as an alternate avenue of exploration for Nervous Horizon’s TSVI, looking to branch out into more worldly drum elements whilst melding it with UK-centric club constructs. Whilst the Whities release was an invigorating tease of the project, his ‘Stargate’ EP for Martyn’s 3024 label acts as the sound dancefloors have been clamoring for – most evidently with its title track.

Stargate’ starts off with mischievous drum patterns, adding bits of percussive elements after each phrase with a confidence that stirs until it reaches its apex near the halfway-mark of the track; when we get hit with thwacking claps, iridescent pads and a groovy melody that is welcome home inside the grooviest of electro tracks. Soon thereafter, all that melds effortlessly with the earlier sequences and the end results leads to quite possibly one of the earlier contenders for track of the year.

Whatever comes next between Anunaku and 3024 will surely have a lot of ear, eyes and feet at the ready; because even the A-side is enough to warrant speeding to the center of the dancefloor to lose yourself in just one go.

“Stargate” is available now for release via 3024. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
