Born in Manchester, raised in Zambia and now based in San Francisco, Banksia is a vivacious earth dweller inaugurating his own imprint Ordinary Pleasures with his two-track first short-length effort called ‘Tala‘.
Following a remix for Australian electronic pop band Lastlings in 2019, Banksia delivers his primary release with an innovative blend of UK-infused melodic house complemented with percussive elements – reminiscent of Floating Points with a Southern African twist.
For the premiere, we’ve selected ‘Sonore‘ in which Banksia creates the sensation of being lost in an ever-changing world, trudging relentlessly through uncanny rhythms devoid of any sense of anchorage. Incorporating light-hearted bell chimes, bubbling synth pads, and highly-arranged drum rhythms, this is a bona fide house anthem.
