Premiere: Christophe Salin – Making Other People Happy

Christophe Salin feels that ‘Making Other People Happy’ and ‘Do Right’, both tracks which appear on his new EP, are particularly important, marking a shift for him as an artist. While he explains that his sound is still undergoing a metamorphosis of sorts, the tracks on ‘It’s Probably Me’ seem purposeful and polished.

It’s Probably Me’ arrives on Salin’s own imprint, which has provided a home for his productions for the past five years. The label is set to expand this year, minting an offshoot called Salin Deep to focus on “more raw and dub influenced music”.

Rather than falling on the raw side of things, ‘Making Other People Happy’ is a glistening piece of technicolour house. The track’s 808 foundations are layered with filtered stabs and incandescent pads that seem to herald the arrival of spring.

‘It’s Probably Me’ is scheduled for release 19 March. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
