With one decade of notable releases by label heads Aaron Dae and JKriv, avant-garde collective Golden Dawn Arkestra, Brooklyn-based producer Jacques Renault and Superior Elevation selector Tom Noble, disco and house edits label Razor-N-Tape prepare to release ‘Cody Currie EP‘, courtesy of Cody Alexander Lucas Currie.
After previous appearances on IG Culture and Alex Phountzi imprint CoOp Presents, Munich-based label Toy Tonics and Shall Not Fade, Cody Currie line up a 6-track collection encompassing soulful instrumentals rooted in light-faded jazz, funky grooves and zestful house rhythms. Featuring a wide range of collaborators including Marlena Dae, Stee Downes, Cor.ece, Mikeal and Ally Mc Mahon, Cody Currie takes listeners into a parallel universe filled with smoky instrumentals and digital tempo storms.
Our pick from the release is ‘Yes Bruv‘ – a panteralyzed tribute to South London’s broken beat pioneers. Fueled with syncopated drum arrangements, low-gravity basslines, warmhearted vocals and steamy synthesizers, it seamlessly binds everyone together on the dancefloor.
‘Cody Currie EP’ is scheduled for release on 1st December via Razor-N-Tape. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
