Bluff Records rack up their third vinyl release with an EP from Brooklyn-based producer Doxa. The label’s soft-focus on club-dungeon techno and dark breakbeat shines throughout the EP, and nowhere stronger than the opening track.
‘Zinger‘ wastes no time in smothering the listener in a dense club smoke, undulating layers of synthesis rising and falling in and out of pattern with one another. Crisp percussion brings in the beat proper as the dense bassline surges out of the mix in ever-increasing bursts of intensity.
Replete with pregnant pauses and moments of high drama, ‘Zinger’ is a shapeshifting behemoth for raising dark intensity of a set. With all profits going towards The Black Curriculum and Bed-Stuy community support efforts, there’s all the more reason to grab it.
‘Zinger’ is scheduled for release 14 September via Bluff Records. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
