Gost Zvuk are back pursuing their explorations into the hazy maze of experimental electronics. Flaty, one of the imprints more prolific members has been tasked with the label’s first release of 2019 on their club-ready “Instrument” series.
What is so impressive with Flaty’s productions is his capability of engaging in different sonic styles. Looking back at his discography is like a Pandora’s box of styles, ranging from mellow and stripped-down ballads to unwelcoming sound-design excursions and ‘Instrument No. 6’ is no exception to that.
The 10″ vinyl release keeps in check with the labels robust aesthetic offering up three shades of acid and dub. ‘Hornets’ is a bizarre electro stomper, whilst ‘RN’ draws inspiration from dense Soviet experimental music from the 1980’s. Our pick ‘Graf Ruin’ is a 147 BPM dub techno gem, embellished with a skittering synth and muted drums, resembling the more spacious soundscapes of Basic Channel.
‘Instrument No. 6’ is scheduled for release via Gost Zvuk on 6 April 2019. Order a copy from Juno.
