A staple in the Antinote family since delivering the fifth effort of the Paris-based imprint back in 2013 – shortly followed by three EPs over the last couple of years, Nicolas Molina aka Geena has been slowly but surely drawing his own enthralling sound imaginarium out of classic house tropes, tribal movements and balearic inflections.
In a couple of weeks will drop his new instalment on Zaltan’s label, the flower power-friendly ‘Peace Love Earth‘, which features five shape-shifting cuts to celebrate diversity, moving between sun-streaked house, blazing euro-style dance and oddball electronics with ease and efficiency.
Our pick, ‘Blue Transfer‘, melds batucada rhythms and high-pitched, whistling synth melodies set against a lush organic backdrop. The groove is smooth and drums beat a festive carnival pulse, cascading in a versicolor symphony of subtle jungle noises and detailed layering. As its title accurately points it out, this’ll fly you to some cerulean paradise in a wing flap.
Peace Love Earth: Mental DJ’s Land Vol.2 is released on 9th December, order a vinyl copy from Bandcamp.
