Premiere: Shedbug – Siren

Hailing from Melbourne, Shedbug is a producer to keep an eye on. After debuting earlier this year with the tape album ‘Acceptance‘ on THRHNDRDSVNTNN, followed by a solid EP on Paul Patterson’s Of Paradise last month, the Australian producer returns with a versatile plate of atmospheric techno and heavy bass flexions on the newly established Flux.

Since debuting his own imprint Salt Mines alongside Aussie alter ego Rudolf C, Elliot-Kerr hasn’t quite settled down to a genre in particular, rather well banging extremes together through non-linear transmissions as he defies any sense of uniformity and easy classification. His floor-intelligence on the other hand remains a constant.

Our premiere, the ruthless ‘Siren‘ unleashes a punishing fire of reverb-soaked drums and slicing mechanics going off in the murk of a hazy after party. Smoke screens build up as menacing dub waves converge in a terror downrush of demented percs and rusty jungle breaks lashing hard. Even though the term ‘weapon’ has turned a bit clichéd with time, this one certainly has the power to nuke dancefloors by the dozen. Hazardous material.

Afterglow EP is released via Flux on 30th November, pre-order a vinyl copy from Juno.
