Inaugurated last year with a debut outing courtesy of label big cheese DJ Whispr Snipr, Australian imprint Nerang Recordings – named after the eponymous Queensland suburb they’re operating from, an area known for its iconic surf spots – has since stacked up quite a massive amount of digital releases including EPs from Grey People, Future DZ, Shrimp Traxx, Protyv, Randal Douglas and more.
As summer slowly gets upon us, Nerang step up with the debut number of their spanking new VA series, pressed to vinyl for the first time and featuring four cuts by various label staples: Perth-based IOK, British new talent DJ Safeword and confirmed American producers Grey People and Future DZ, who co-operate the Nashville based label Tram Planet Records together.
Our premiere, IOK’s tactile opener ‘I Want To Be With You (And A Couple Of Others)‘ is a proper luscious club burner for hedonistic lovers with its devil-may-care attitude and sultry vocals set to get the sexiness meters in overdrive. Draped in a silky dim light you hear the champagne flowing like water and whispers running like feverish caresses… Dayum, you think, it’s a trap! Sure to bring heat on all dancefloor it meets, this one has a pair of Marvin Gaye’s under the hood. Enough to bring back peace on earth and destroy it again by overpopulation. Beware, hazardous love-making material all the way.
