Premiere: Konstantinos Gkoumas – Big

Released last month, Belarus-based record label People Can Listen issued a striking extended-player from Athens-based producer Konstantinos Gkoumas, marking his fourth solo release resulting in a masterful exploration of glitch and cerebral, dreamlike soundscapes.

Over the course of five tracks, ‘PYR‘ unfolds as a hypermodern soundscape where dark ambient swells, IDM quirks and submerged oddities intermingle, casting the listener into a blackout state. Modular whirrs and glitching sequences flicker like broken thoughts, navigating a labyrinth of undefined aural territories.
Unchanged:

Our pick, ‘Big‘ evolves into a machine-made ritual of mechanical pulse and fragmented transmissions. A semi-metallic hum drifts beneath downtempo rhythms, diving deep into Gkoumas’ world of segmental resonance and suspended harmonies. Subterranean drops bubble up, conjuring the feeling of colossal, slumbering creatures exhaling in the hollowed darkness of forgotten caves.

‘PYR‘ is scheduled for release 28st February via People Can Listen. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
