Since 2015, Russian label and booking agency System 108 have been delivering their own take on techno. Primarily in Moscow, but also in Saint Petersburg, they’ve thrown parties with some of techno’s biggest names, with their label providing an additional outlet for their vision of dance music.
The label’s next release comes from crew member and resident, Kovyazin D. The producer describes ‘Dark Shades of Moscow’ as a dedication to working in solitude, analog synthesizers, and the underlying secrets of Moscow.
Across the release, the producer mines the fertile intersection of spooky EBM and hard-edged techno. Our pick is David Carretta’s remix of ‘I Constantly Hear These Voices’, the French electroclash pioneer unleashing a haunting acid-imbued version.
‘Dark Shades of Moscow’ is scheduled for release 5 November via System 108. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
