Big Science Records are back with their final release for the year. The next EP on the label, filled with moments of quiet beauty, takes things down a gear and has been described as a distillation of the musical ideas that the producer has been developing in his recent work.
That producer is Leo James, an artist who might be familiar to some through appearances on Berceuse Heroique, Neubau and his own imprint Body Language. On ‘Féth Fíada’, which also features saxophonist and composer Cayn Borthwick, James delivers a unique collection of downtempo and ambient works.
From the melancholy synthesis of the title track to the distorting arcade game-like tones of ‘Long Amber Light’, there’s tremendous variety here. Our pick is ‘Purple Night’, a whispered version of the previously mentioned track that includes delicate hand drums, snatches of saxophone, and sparing moments of synth.
‘Féth Fíada’ is scheduled for release 29 November via Big Science Records. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
