Premiere: Lone – Young Star Cluster

There is something in the water Matt Cutler is drinking. The run of form since hitting the hallowed catalogue of R&S is exponentially good. The quartet of ‘Ambivert Club Tools‘ have proved to be an absolute rocket of consistency in creating club bangers that touched on classic New York house music, psychedelic progressive and throwback rave. An entry on the DJ Kicks series gave us a slow burning summer classic which joined the dots between his history in woozy hip hop right up to today’s dance floor gripping weapons.

Now Lone is blooding his own label Ancient Astronauts, the purpose of which is to release his own material while working on a new album, while also continuing to helm the in flight Magicwire with label partner Gabriola.

Abraxas‘ is an even more focused microcosm than the DJ Kicks outing – the title track touches on Cutler’s penchant for cosmic melodies, our premiere ‘Young Star Cluster‘ rubs together rave and hip-hop sensibilities in an understated acid jam, and ‘How Can You Tell’ finishes off the release with wispy reflective electronica.

‘Abraxas’ EP is scheduled for release 26 July 2019. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
