2015 has been a thriving year for lo-fi house and experimental techno head Lutto Lento – the massive ‘Whips‘ on Where To Now? being a particular highlight whilst the more recent ‘Mondo Hehe EP‘ for Transatlantyk proved to keep up with Grzelak’s standards of excellence quite collectedly.
Closing this winning circle of releases ahead of a year that shall hopefully keep him even busier is ‘Dog Leaf‘, the Polish producer’s very first instalment on the up-and-coming Proto Sites imprint, solidly pursuing its quest for thought-provoking sideliners and challenging bushwhackers.
Colliding sliced-and-diced pop music fragments and stiff shuffling rhythms all draped in tortuous soundfolds there or crafting delirious hiphopisms with free-jazz’y unorthodoxy here, ‘Dog Leaf‘ clearly makes for one of this end of year’s igniters.
Stream title-track ‘Dog Leaf‘ in full now – it’s all about ragged silky motifs, smooth trumpets and heavenly vocals with a twisted Xmas-vibe to it. Particularly enjoyable with a cookie and some milk. Tip!
Dog Leaf is out now, order a vinyl copy from Juno.
