Six years after their inaugural release, Brussels-based underground imprint ESITU return with a 10-track cassette release from the post-punk DIY band Nice Guise.
Following two appearances on ESITU compilations – ‘Candid Shots‘ transports listeners into a parallel universe filled with cross-functional frustrations, lo-fi recordings and devastating scenarios. Across 10-tracks, Nice Guise depicts a dystopian office setting inhabited by late capitalism laments, dodgy experimental and white-collar techno.
Our pick from the release is ‘Somewhere Else (improvisation)’ – thanks to its whistling ad lib interwoven with gyrating arpeggios and delicate drumming ceremony. This is nothing less than an ultra-modern HR burnout ceremony conducted by devil-shaped puppets.
