It was only a matter of time until the parallel paths of NYC techno enfant terrible Nick Klein and Entro Senestre’s boundary-pushing imprint BANK Records drew closer and eventually gave birth to a collaborative effort. Both driven by the will to alter techno’s stale course of things and bring new motion to the innovatively seized-up engine, Nick and John teamed up for ‘Bathroom Wall‘ – using “the symbology of the bathroom wall to construct five disparate wall scrawlings and hazed meditations into the compositional grounds for four meaner mid-tempo, rhythmic purges.”
Lifted from this fearless assemblage of off-axis 4/4 spins, anxiogenic ambiences and bleak, post-industrial crawlers, our pick ‘The Worst Band In The World‘ is a convulsive cacophony of sizzling bass, intense freq distortions and roasted hardware gasps, taking on “the pulsing build of an intoxicated night out.” A reckless, deadly waltz dangerously flirting with the fringes of drug-induced coma and a sense of artificial ecstasy that draws nearer to the comedown retribution bar after bar, Klein’s cut is techno at its bolder and most delectably misfit. Twist your brain, red zone ahead.
Bathroom Wall is released via BANK Records NYC on 26th October, pre-order a copy from Bandcamp.
