Premiere: Pilo & John Bryars – Devotion (Unklevon Remix)

Succeeding the ‘Speed Of Heart’ release from Taube in February 2024, Berlin-based label Boys Noize returns with an eight-track remix compilation – courtesy of Californian sound savants Pilo and John Bryars.

Consisting of eight tracks, ‘X Remixes‘ features producers such as the legendary songwriter Moby, Black Rave Culture’s disciple James Bangura, Schacke and Mac Declos among others. Throughout the release, the consortium of fast-paced misfits creates the impression of a dystopian double-decker train replete with anxious breaks, dark techno stompers and neo-perreo juke.

Our pick from the release is Unklevon‘s interpretation of ‘Devotion‘ produced by Pilon and John Bryars – from its psyched-out electro rhythms enhanced with delirious cowbells through its daunting arpeggios to its corrupted whispers from deviant quadrupeds, the listeners are whisked away to the mecca of electro where the faithful assemble to worship the Roland TR-808 deity.

‘X Remixes’ is scheduled for release on 1st March via Boys Noize. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
