Better known as Portable and Bodycode, Alan Abrahams seems to have been there forever. Since his debut 12″ ‘Patterns And Signals‘ released fifteen years ago, the South African producer released no less than 26 EPs and eight albums on a variety of praised imprints including Perlon, Live At Robert Johnson, Background and his own label Süd Electronic.
Following on from the drop of his seventh long player as Portable, the very intimate ‘Alan Abrahams‘ released via !K7 earlier in the summer, Alan returns with a three-track remix platter featuring the lead track ‘This Frozen Lake‘ plus a pair of reworks from dubstep legend Shackleton and another one from his own hand.
Our premiere – the Bodycode version, offers a panoramic view on Abrahams’ mesmeric landscapes, melding his ever-poignant vocals with finely-carved percussive reliefs. Melancholic yet never desperate, nostalgic yet all eyes on uncharted horizons, Portable’s music is one that sits in limbo between altered states of consciousness and a phantasmatic presence.
