London-based record label Slowfoot gear up to issue ‘Brutalist‘ LP from British producer Robert Logan.
Following notable collaborations with Steve Roach, Brian Eno, and Grace Jones, ‘Brutalist’ emerges as a crooked monolith – a towering, gunmetal-grey edifice of sound, 24 tracks unfurling like a vertiginous ascent through the cold, concrete stairwells of a dystopian high-rise.
Each composition reveals a sharp, minimalist symmetry, crafted for a world inhabited by the fundamental segments of humanity. This album plunges into vast, cinematic soundscapes, where dense layers of steamy ambient swirl around leftfield rhythms, while fragmented IDM pulses sketch the architecture of a hyper-connected, cybernetic mind.
Our pick from the album is ‘Dance Of Oxidation‘. Opening with mutated, staggered drum patterns encased in a web of shifting FX frequencies, Logan immediately immerses the audience in a dense, haze-like atmosphere of warped textures.
The sound evokes the shadowy, industrial pulse of the EBM generation, twisting and distorting with an unsettling sense of dark futurism. As the track unfolds, a maelstrom of chaotic drumming collides with distorted, almost ritualistic spoken word fragments, climaxing in a earth-shattering pandemonium that beckons like a trance from another solar system.
‘Brutalist’ LP is scheduled for release 10 January via Slowfoot. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
