For a first shot it’s been a masterstroke. Few labels out there can boast of having sheltered a debut of the level of Third Try Records‘ christening EP, especially when it comes from none other than Swedish house stalwart and Studio Barnhus co-founder Axel Boman.
After settling with a famed name like the Stockholm producer, the Parisian label operates another bend, handing over the reigns to emerging French producer S. Channel for their second instalment. Scheduled for landing around the 17th of this month, the excellent ‘Never Ending Stories‘ features six moony cuts of wide-scope ambient and shivery deep house.
Translating to something along the lines of “a trip on the tip of the far end of the edge of the world“, our pick finds S. Channel stretching out sun-bleached pad sequences skimming across as a nervy metronomic pulse beats a more basement-friendly, floor-soldierly tempo. A subtly stunning track that snakes in the gaps, going in with an actively contemplative stance, never quite making a choice between urban melancholy and inner-scapes verdancy.
