Paris-based drummer and electronic music producer Sébastien Forrester has been busy over lockdown whipping up his ‘Stamina‘ EP for Belleville Records.
On ‘Stamina‘, Forrester shows his talents behind the kit and the keyboard with the four ultra-tight percussive damagers composing the EP. Aimed right at the centre of the dancefloor, yet with an experimental vein runnning boldly throughout, the record shows versatility just as readily as it bares it’s teeth.
The titular track, ‘Stamina‘, binds frenzied, trance-inducing drums and full-on bass with the keening wail of modified bagpipes. Trust us, it’s not what you’re imagining — think Shackleton before Braveheart. Whilst the use of bagpipes carries some personal significance to Forrester, for the general listener it’s more functional, whipping up a frenzy of energy that you’ll need to give ‘Stamina‘ the dance it deserves.
