Inaugurated last year with great fanfare and a serious 12″ debut from Pampa affiliate and Studio Barnhus mastermind Axel Boman, French label Third Try Records didn’t have to search further afield for their second outing, enlisting close friend and previous SEML collaborator S. Channel.
This time, the Paris-based outlet goes international again and hands the reins to Californian producer Zane Reynolds aka SFV Acid, responsible for a flurry of choice EPs and albums on labels as diverse as NYC’s UNO, BAKK, 100% Silk and his own imprint SFV Records.
Across the six grooves of this coltish, synth-heavy ‘Pettyclubber EP‘ wafts a full-out catchy summery vibe. Joined by fellow US producers Secret Circuit and Suzanne Kraft for a special rethinking of the title-track, Reynolds dispenses yet another one of his signature lysergic melters.
Imagine lounging in your deckchair by an acid-filled pool, eyes watery from the toxic emanations but a stupid, creepy smile on the face caused by unseen chemical interactions, the sun’s setting upon a purple skyline and your mind’s progressively sinking in a thick druggy haze while crocodile pool floats and dolphin-drawn carriages sail off into the sunset in hyper slow-motion. Nuts.
Pettyclubber EP is released via Third Try Records on 15th July, pre-order a vinyl copy from Juno.
