Premiere: Simon Littauer – Xenon

Copenhagen-based record label Katharsis prepare to release the much-anticipated ‘Modular‘ LP from local artist and composer Simon Littauer.

Renowned for his involvement in clandestine modular synth sessions and pioneering sound installations, high-tech virtuoso Littauer unveils his debut album. All tracks on the album are recorded as one-takes, resulting in a tour de force of Eurorack modular synthesis, blending obscure breakbeats, club-oriented electronica, ambient soundscapes, and percussion-driven braindance.

The standout track from the album is ‘Xenon’ – a relentless barrage of feverish breaks slice through a dense haze of cyber-minded synth waves and throbbing bass to create this interplanetary treasure. As the piece builds to a frenzied crescendo, deconstructed drum patterns morph into a dance formula that is both puzzling and ethereal.

‘Modular’ is scheduled for release on 10 January 2025 via Katharsis. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
