Formed by Roger Rizzitelli and Dominique Perrier in the late ’70s, French duo Space Art have been a driving force in the burgeoning early electronic and space-disco scenes of their time, releasing some of the most memorable classics from an era where everything seemed possible, burying their sidereal gaze into an utopian future of electronic possibilities.
Connecting the dots between next-level technical advancement and a refined melodic savoir-faire – like François de Roubaix rubbing shoulders with Klaus Schulze and Jean-Michel Jarre (whom Perrier has been one of the closest collaborators), the pair have been pioneering a sound whose impact across generations can still be felt today as it keeps influencing a whole part of the contemporary disco-house and neo-kosmische spheres.

In order to pay tribute to the immense legacy left by Space Art, Because entrusted some of today’s finest legatees of the French duo’s interstellar sound including Norwegian wizard Prins Thomas, UK-based duo Psychemagik, Italian don Daniele Baldelli and Quantistic Division honcho Marco Dionigi, gathered together on a very special 2 x 12″ + CD remix EP.
As a taster we’re glad to share with you Prins Thomas ‘Diskomiks’ rendition of Space Art’s anthem ‘Welcome To Love‘, taken from their all-time classic LP ‘Play Back‘. Slightly pushing the BPMs to turn it into a proper rousing jazzy weapon, the Full Pupp boss infuses a breezy mix of latin-inflected, balearic-friendly guitar riffs and trumpets over a re-arranged sequence of live drums. Time after time, Prins Thomas shows he really deserves his nobility title.
Space Art Remix is released via Because Music on 11th November, pre-order a copy from Juno. On the same day, Because will re-issue all three Space Art albums – Space Art, Trip In The Center Head and Play Back, in both vinyl and CD.
