Having delivered his debut solo EP on Melbourne’s clipp.art last year, Manchester-based producer Thodén steps up to inaugurate Jacques Torrance’s newly formed imprint, Electroménager. A compelling five-dish menu of chiselled Bristolian bass and garage-infused techno complemented with an extra-fine remix from Numbers affiliate Perko, ‘800mg‘ joins in the tradition of Livity Sound and Hessle Audio, whilst cementing Thodén’s position as one of the genre’s most promising talents.
Streaming over our channels today, B-side banger ‘Midnight Shift‘ has its prey locked in the infra-red gunsight and finger nervously caressing the trigger. A pure UK bass melter stripped down to the very essential, i.e. flocks of stealth moving subs, sliced-and-diced vox hooks, lushly textured pads and passive-aggressive gridlocked drums blended in with undeniable style, Thodén’s churner does a wonderful job of controlling both the tempo and room’s thermostat, from a dreamy vaporous state to straight out baking heat. Let out the steppin’ lobster in you.
800mg is released via Electroménager on 23rd November.
