Saffron Music team up with Noods for 8-week course in Radio Production & Broadcasting

Bristol-based Saffron Music, an equality initiative dedicated to redressing the gender imbalances within the music tech industry, have announced an 8-week beginner’s course in radio production and broadcasting, in collaboration with Noods Radio.

The course, which is open to women, non-binary and Trans individuals only, is mentored by Manami and Tilly, both rising DJ’s with regular shows on Noods Radio, NTS, and Worldwide FM.

Across the 2-hour weekly lessons, 8 successful applicants will be tutored in what it takes to manage a regular radio show, with the course culminating in an 8-hour live stream on August 1st, with each member presenting an hour-long show on Noods Radio.

Saffron’s initiative is much-needed, with just 5% of the industry roles filled by women, and imbalances, malpractice and prejudice rife within the environment. The course is designed to provide a safe space for the candidates, welcoming them into the Noods and Saffron families with the intent to support them throughout the course and beyond.

The application deadline is 21 May, with the course itself commencing June 7th. For those who are successful in their application, tickets are priced at £145, with free and discounted tickets also available to prevent price being a barrier to entry.

This project marks the inaugural programme from NOODS LEVELS CIC, the Bristol radio station’s arm focussing further on education and opportunities for young creatives.

Applications are due 21st of May. Please remember that only Female, Non-Binary and Trans individuals without an existing radio show will be considered for this course.
