The latest episode of Newtype Rhythms comes fast and furiously with veracity and vigour, courtesy of Detroit-based producer Sinistarr.
With a discography spanning over a decade, Sinistarr has found a way to meld his hometown history with sounds across the pond, finding an inflection point between futuristic Detroit techno and timeless UK Drum & Bass. Whether it be releasing for the likes of Metalheadz, Tectonic or collaborating with DJ Stingray on dBridge’s Exit Records, Sinistarr’s unique connections to these distinct sonic signifiers bring out something special in his productions and his DJ sets.
With his latest release, a collaboration with Surrey-based producer Hyroglifics entitled ‘BS6′ on Sherelle and Naina’s Hooversound Recordings imprint – Sinistarr cranks it up to maximum peak-time level with a sound that he perfectly describes as “ghettotech meets UK rave.”
Between his already stellar catalog of releases and what’s come to fruition with this release, a guest mix for Newtype Rhythms was to come soon thereafter. Sinistarr’s mix of his favourite tracks from the last decade starts 54 minutes, with resident Sheepshead warming and speeding things up to start.
