Andrew Morrison, best known for his work as The Cyclist and Buz Ludzha, has launched a new label, Overland Liverpool. Taking over from his previous imprint, Tape Throb, ‘OVRLPL001‘ is the inaugural release, with Morrison’s new project The Motorist pairing up with Liverpool’s Alien Izz for a two-track 12-inch.
The Motorist embraces a clubby drum and bass vibe on his track, ‘Round‘. It departs from the “tape throb” sound of his previous aliases with its kaleidoscopic, psychedelia tinged house sound. It seems to be a new direction for the producer, as The Motorist’s debut aligns more closely to Morrison’s other project, Indopan, which released a new tape just this year. Alien Izz’s contribution, ‘Spectral‘, conjures a blasted electro shuffle that’s a deep-fried, tasty summer burner.
‘OVRLPL001’ is scheduled for release May 19 via Overload Liverpool. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
