Music Video: ZK Bucket – Gummiefuss

This year, Berlin-based producer ZK Bucket released his highly-anticipated debut album ‘Techstar Liner‘ on German imprint MoonWalk X, now he revisits the album with a lo-fi video collage directed by visual artist and painter Andreas Steffen.

Releasing mind-bending music through his own label Zaun, ZK Bucket’s album packs stripped-down synthesizers, blending his long-time expertise in the field with a potent combination of hazed-out EBM, proto-industrial techno, new beat renaissance and post-punk oddities, revealing the groundwork for dystopian healing geared towards outlandish corporations.

The music video depicts rally car racers powering through the North African Sahara’s untamed sand dunes. From the long-forgotten archives of the Paris-Dakar race, the protagonists appear in half-broken vehicles surrounded by ecstatic human crowds, whilst abstract commercials advertise anise-based alcohol and tobacco. Andreas Steffen shares his scorched feelings:

“My keywords for the video were desert, snake charmer, dunes, camels, camel races. and then after searching for all kind of camel race footage I had the idea to use some Paris Dakar footage and and so I watched almost 40 different Paris Dakar footages, compilations and documentations. There was a lot of good material but  one fitted in particular because of the rhythm and the VHS quality and its colours. I always like the aspect of man vs nature. When I did the video it was soon very clear that it would have to have engine noises so then I overdubbed the video material with some matching audio fx and noises which gives it a comic feel.

‘Techstar Liner’ is scheduled for release on 20th May. Pre-order a limited edition vinyl copy from Bandcamp.
