Antal travels to Japan on Altered Soul Experiment’s new mixtape

Since its inception two years ago, Paris-via-Berlin based imprint Altered Soul Experiment has earned its stripes as a source of constant musical amazement for record collectors, home listeners or anyone willing to simply expand their musical vision and knowledge through a painstakingly-curated selection of mix tapes.

Following up to a handful of enthralling contributions by the crème of selectors and DJs from all around the globe – Volcov, Red Greg, Ge-ology, Marcellus Pittman… – ASE’s green yet well-resourced catalogue is now about to enrich with a seventh instalment courtesy of Rush Hour mastermind Antal.

Stepping up with a 100% Japanese mix that features fresh finds from a recent tour in the land of the rising sun, Antal explores a broad sound scope that ranges from neo-classical to jazz-fusion and folk music onto electronica and other downtempo delicacies.

I had December and snowflakes in Japan on my mind. I used to love the Takeshi Kitano’s movies for instance but also the soundtracks. So I have a weak spot for this Japanese nostalgia

Antal will headline the next Altered Soul Experiment night at OHM, Berlin on 4th February. More info here

ASE07 is released via Altered Soul Experiment on 6th February, pre-order a tape copy through the label’s webshop.
