Barker returns to Ostgut Ton with ‘BARKER002’

Barker is back. Responsible for one of 2019’s most refreshing albums ‘Utility‘, the Berlin-based producer and Leisure System honcho returns to familiar ground with his new spellbinding ‘BARKER002’ EP on Ostgut Ton.

The EP features three hyperactive and frenzied worlds of pointillistic experimentalism, intricate rhythms and necromancy. Expect to hear that familiar trance melody and sweet sub-bass Barker has ingrained in his productions since his right-angled divergence from big room doom to electronica with the DebiasingEP (released by Ostgut Ton in 2018)

A highlight is ‘E7-E5’, a synesthesia-inducing “opening up a festival set” track that builds on the dubbed-out ambience of Chain Reaction alumni and the frenetic rhythmical works of Second Woman or Mark Fell whilst having that thump and energy of a dancefloor techno track.

In the build-up to ‘Utility’, Barker released a three-track EP which built on the dynamics, timbres and no kick take on techno. Hopefully, BARKER002 is a prelude to something else just as magical.

‘BARKER002’ is out today in digital format. Vinyl lands 18 June via Ostgut Ton. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
