Deena Abdelwahed delivers a brazen mix for Newtype Rhythms

Genre-bending is something that many musicians strive towards but few achieve to master, unless you’re someone as brazen and brilliant as Deena Abdelwahed.

The Tunisian musician has been nurturing her sound for the last few years into something that traversed the universes of house, techno, bass music, sound-art and beyond; all through Parisian label InFiné, which has welcomed sounds from all corners of the world from classical to club.

Abdelwahed’s unique path towards audible narrative separates her from contemporaries, pushing her to continuously evolve with each release and that sentiment rings no truer than her mix for Newtype Rhythms and recent extended player Dhakar, which melds field recordings, Gnawa music and propulsive percussion with dizzying highs and bellowing lows.
