Following the release of ‘Speed Of Life’ last year, Montreal vocalist Laroie is on the cusp of dropping a remix featuring some Montreal favourites. The artist invites Gene Tellem & Gabriel Rei, Martyn Bootyspoon, Honeydrip and THe LYONZ to deliver their own versions for ‘SOL REMIX SELECTION’.
Laroie is the alias of Gab Godon, who first made her mark as one half of Heartstreets. Her music as a solo artist draws from a range of styles finding a comfortable footing at the intersection of soul, r&b and strains of electronic music. She’s also one part of Secret Witness alongside Gabriel Rei, Gene Tellem and Pascal Deaudelin.
Our pick from the release is Gene Tellem and Gabriel Rei’s remix of ‘Moonlight’. The original is a sweet serenade that will no doubt please fans of Erika de Casier and fans of early 2000s r&b. For their remix, Laroie’s Secret Witness collaborators turn in a slick deep house assignment that ramps up the tempo.
