Prague’s Lunchmeat Festival finalises lineup with Shackleton (live), Nkisi and Aquarian

Lunchmeat have unveiled the third and final wave of acts to perform at the 11th edition of the experimental new media and arts festival alongside Lyra Pramuk, Anthony Linell, Dadub, Helena Hauff, Maenad Veyl, Nina Pixel, Nonotak, Robert Henke and Sophie.

Set to take place between 28 September to 3 October within four of Prague’s iconic venues, The National Gallery, Archa Theatre, CAMP and the revered Ankali club space – Lunchmeat is proving that despite COVID restrictions, the limited 300 capacity festival will admirably go ahead as planned.

“We feel obliged to make Lunchmeat happen” says Jakub Pešek, head of the festival. “We want to give musicians a chance to play and for people to enjoy something extraordinary. Even with these complicated conditions we have to look for possibilities to create events like this – following all the necessary safety precautions, but not living in fear.”

“We want to keep the scene moving and send a message that it is possible to do things” he adds. In accordance with the government’s regulations on banning gatherings after midnight, the start time of the programmes were moved to 18:00 (Thursday, Friday), and 16:00 (Saturday).

Shackleton spearheads the third wave announcement, presenting a mystical live set of minimal techno, replete with incessant polyrhythms, cavernous sound design, and vocal manipulation reminiscent of the early phasing experiments of Steve Reich.

Amsterdam-based duo Know V.A. explore Dutch hardcore from the early 90’s with rich, textural sound-design combined with a live AV performance from visual artist Omar El-Sadek.

Amongst the many world premieres, Aquarian joins forces with Lunchmeat Studio for an ultra special live AV performance, whilst Axis Arkestra (Nkisi and Curtly Thomas) invite the audience to experience the extra- sensory and telepathically induce (collective) inner hearing with their hard-hitting techno.

Ethno Service mix together techno, tinted with a dubby atmospheric vibe and their set is accompanied by Štěpán Málek. The siblings of Glory Affairs, another example of Prague ́s promising newcomers, serving up strange dance music rituals for all to embrace.

Inverted Audio is an official media partner of Lunchmeat Festival and we’ll be on hand to bring you all the info you’ll need and show the best bits afterwards. Stay tuned for further features and announcements.
