Make Me with Donato Dozzy, Marco Shuttle & Gateway To Zen

On Saturday 5th December Make Me return to Corsica Studios for an evening of hypnotic techno from Donato Dozzy, Marco Shuttle and the Gateway To Zen collective.

Few DJs and producers are as widely and universally acclaimed in techno circles as Donato Dozzy. His tripping, hypnotic take on the genre providing a counterpoint to the fads and trends that can dominate the narrative from one year to the next. When Donato last played for Make Me in London he completely destroyed Studio Spaces with one of the most accomplished sets we’ve had the pleasure to witness. As anyone who was there will tell you, Donato is an absolute bad boy.

As well as having some serious skills behind the decks, Donato is also one of the scene’s most consistent and respected producers, with a slew of seminal releases under his own name as well as a series of collaborations with the likes of Neel, as Voices From The Lake, and with our second guest Marco Shuttle, as Anxur.

Marco Shuttle has carved out his own little niche in recent years. Releasing on only the classiest outlets such as Time To Express, The Bunker and Clone, Marco’s journeying techno sound is devilishly distilled and expertly organic, and as such has turned the heads of those in the know. As a DJ he is just as considered, never doing anything just because, but instead focusing on form and function in equal measure. Marco will play prior to Donato in Room 1, with the Make Me residents Rubin, Rupes and Nic Baird in support.

Room 2 sees us play host to one of South London’s most talked about new parties – Gateway to Zen. GTZ was started in 2014 by four friends in South East London who wanted to play techno music together. It was an effort to do something small-scale and inclusive, with a grassroots feel. Less about big names and published guests, more about building a crowd of like-minded regulars.

5 December will be just over a year since they started. During that time they’ve hosted eight excellent parties with a nice mix of residents-only and guest line-ups (some announced, some not). GTZ have also attracted positive attention for their adoption of a Safe Space Policy, which you can read about here.

Corsica Room 2 will see the four residents playing all night – Nick Craddock, Charlie Leahy, Diskomo Oblast and Tom Whatmore.
