If you’re not totally spanked from New Years Eve, Avant Garde have your New Years Day program sorted. For the occasion, Maceo Plex will helm the ship at Bankside Vaults, joined by Modeselektor, DJ Tennis and Axel Boman, all gathered for a night of sheer hedonism.
Over an array of choice nights and events, 2016 has seen Avant Garde mature into one of London’s core promoters bringing the likes of Christian Loffler, Function, John Talabot, Kiasmos, Röyksopp to the capital, all hosted within a former train depot.
First in line to celebrate the rise of the new year, Maceo Plex will bring together his many “musical colours”, like he’s been huddling the likes of DJ Koze, John Talabot, Pachanga Boys, Red Axes and many more over 20 weeks of Ibiza events. His wide-scope vision, meshing the more experimental and esoteric producers has certainly helped reinvigorate the white island.
Another highlight of the night will be Modeselektor, the hugely diverse and talented Monkeytown Records duo have excelled at Mosaic event in Ibiza this past summer and have also just completed a storming tour under their Moderat moniker alongside Apparat. Life & Death co-founder DJ Tennis will make his Bankside Vaults debut, as well as Axel Boman, label boss of Studio Barnhus and contributor to Pampa, Third Try Records, Glass Table and more.
Last but not least, it’s been a long time since Eagles & Butterflies played in London, and with his releases on Innervisions being played by pretty much everyone, especially Dixon, his set is certainly one to look out for. Fellow Innervisions artist Denis Horvat completes the lineup, with Avant Garde residents Rabota and Troubador taking over the psychedelic third room.
