Abby Echiverri is a unique talent. Establishing herself most recently with her enigmatic live performances, she has studied multiple disciplines both musically (classically trained in flute, piano and violin) and technically (as an accomplished gear technician and sound engineer); seemingly finding more crafts to absorb and thrive in as time continues to chug along. Within that timeframe, she has found ways to create more impressive material, this time with her debut EP on The Bunker New York, entitled ‘Ab Initio’ (to be released later this week).
The four-tracker stands out as a journey through multiple genres from the inside-out; as Echiverri pushes and pulls the preconceived notions of techno, electro, IDM and whatever grey area lurks in-between and presents a pocket universe of playful, thought-provoking moments to be appreciated on-and-off the dancefloor.
Today we premiere “Ionosfeer” – a masterful example of what’s to come on the extended player; a playful and mysterious roller that can fit perfectly in a set that you can find from one of the Livity Sound faithful in Bristol. Between the broken beats and musing melodics lies a tune that will stay in one’s subconscious long after the club excursion. There’s more brilliance to come from Echiverri, be sure of that. Check out “Ionosfeer” after the jump.
Ab Initio is scheduled for release 22nd June 2018. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
