Brandon Knocke returns with his latest release under the moniker Body San. Having previously released music as Discoverer, Knocke traded in the meditative synth wave of that project in favour of dancefloor adjacent “afterhours anthems“. His last release was the chilly 2019 dub techno leaning ‘Midnight‘.
Described as an “archival grab bag”, ‘Hilly Blue’ offers a compelling set of tracks perfectly suited to the summer heat. Similar to other artists on 100% Silk, Body San’s sound isn’t quite designed as peak time rave bangers; instead, it is coolly vibed out, expansive electronica that can perfectly soundtrack solo headphone sessions or similarly low key, chill happenings.
Our pick is “Serious“, nestled on the B-side with a heady dose of warped synths, pulsating beats, and a playful air that make it an easy introduction to the uninitiated or an excellent reminder of the strength of the Body San catalog. The track is a mid-tempo chugger perfect for an easygoing walk on a toasty afternoon or a palliative after a stressful day when you’re sitting on the patio, watching the sun set.
