Following the release of c o m t e‘s debut album in 2020 on Wow & Flutter, Malmö-based Irish musician and visual artist J. Cowhie lines up his next cassette album on Switzerland’s multi-faceted imprint Empty Space.
A purveyor of dextrous outer sonics, c o m t e explores an array of leftfield styles, spanning experimental electronics, downtempo, drone and folk music. His latest album ‘Petra’s Stone‘ consists of samples collected over the last few years in Sweden, Italy and Ireland, resulting in eight delicately restrained downtempo compositions.
Our pick from the album is the title track ‘Petra’s Stone’, sounding similar to the output of Torsten Pröfrock aka T++, c o m t e delivers a murky composition powered by a deep droning bass and muted drums, making this a downtempo delight. The album was mastered by composer and artist Lawrence English.
