‘Six Million Bassdrums Later‘ is certainly an apt title given the nature of Christian S‘ regular floor ordnance. Ploughing the same furrow drew by tracks such as ‘Jagos‘ or ‘Pitch Rider‘, which helped establish the Cologne-based artist as a producer aside from his main DJ function, this new EP displays four refined pieces of swaying electro house.
Recorded in the fall of 2015, “after resetting and repairing my mood as well as my Juno 106“, Christian’s second solo instalment for the equally club-focused and digression-friendly Cómeme finds him delving deep in trompe-l’oeil techno grooves, afrofuturistic rhythms and further minimal architectures.
‘Under The River‘ – which we’re glad to present in full-stream form today, meshes vocal samples a la Aguayo and sizzling bass stabs set against a steamy, tropicalised piano-house backdrop. Alternating moments of tension and low-slung sequences, this one shall work wonders on late night crowds when the brain gets misty but the legs refuse to give up.
Six Million Bassdrums Later is released via Cómeme on August 5th, pre-order a vinyl copy from Juno.
