Premiere: DJ Pelouse – Drôle d’Epoque

Having previously released a 12″ on SEML Records as Duns Scott back in 2016, Paul Teyssedou, alias DJ Pelouse, decided to set sail towards further club-friendly horizons with this new funny-named project. Fresh up for grabs directly from his Bandcamp page, his debut two-tracker ‘Légitime Pelouse‘ (a nod to the French translation of Rowan Atkinson’s muddled address in ‘Four Weddings And A Funeral‘) marks a promising first step in Paul’s wistfully polychromatic new studio project.

Our pick, the B-side dweller ‘Drôle d’Epoque‘ makes for a vibrant trip down memory lane. A hypnagogic slice of laid-back, melancholic house tailored for wee hours winter commutes spent gazing through the window, staring at a thousand pale, nervous faces trapped in the slo-moving traffic’s endless stream as the sky drapes itself in the lushest pastel coloured folds. DJ Pelouse’s alias may sound as some silly in-joke, but his music sure retains the most vivid and soulful poetic qualities.

Légitime Pelouse is out now, order a copy from Bandcamp.
